Ribblesdale opened its extended schools services (ESAS) on January 13th 2009, with a special storytelling performance by Simon Entwistle, local history, legend and ghost expert – greatly enjoyed by all who came along.

We currently offer regular services and activities within three ‘zones’, to which everyone is welcome:
Skills and Learning Zone
The LRC/Library is open every break and lunchtime, before school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, after school until 4.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and until 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs Allonby, the librarian, is available at these times to help with research and homework etc.
Homework Club is held every break and lunchtime in the Learning Centre.
- KS3 drama club is held on Mondays at 3.15pm in drama complex
- Yr 7-8 Film Club is held at lunchtimes in A8
- KS3 Board Game Club is held on Tuesday lunchtimes in the LRC/library
- Chess Club is held every Tuesday after school in LRC
- A selection of audio-books, headphones and texts are now available to use in the LRC/library on Wednesday lunchtimes or after school (for groups of 1-5)
- Gardening Club meets on Wednesday after school in B1
- KS3 Girls Dance is on Tuesdays after school
- The PE Dept. offer a very wide range of clubs and activities
Chill Zone
The snack bar is open after school until 5pm on Tuesday and Thursdays – a great place for students to meet and chat with their friends. (Please note it’s cash only, not cards).
Nintendo Wii Sports is also available on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the snack bar, until 6pm.
Health Zone
The School Nurse holds a Drop-in clinic every Tuesday lunchtime in the Medical Room.
There is a Drop-in centre every lunchtime for any students wishing to discuss any kind of problems in Mrs Briggs’ office (Mon & Thurs) and in A4 (Tues, Wed & Fri.)
Holistic therapist Bev Rayner is providing Indian Head and Foot massage sessions for Yr 10 & 11 students, beginning on January 29th after school and then on alternate Thursdays. (Anyone wishing to book a session should collect a parental permission slip from Mrs Allonby in the library).
In addition to these regular activities, there have been and will be a range of special events to coincide with late-opening nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, such as street dance with Clare Bruce, aerobics, fishing fly-tying, RSPB bird-watch, storytelling, and a range of health experts dropping in on an informal basis.
