Technology College Specialist Status

Our designation as a Technology College in September 1999 made us one of the first specialist schools in East Lancashire. Additional funding has enhanced ICT provision across every subject as well as enabling teachers in the specialist subjects (Mathematics, Science and Design Technology) to enhance the learning of all pupils.

Our status has also given us more opportunities to work in partnership with primary schools and other secondary schools. Link lessons provide continuity for pupils before they arrive at Ribblesdale, and for those pupils who have left.

We are committed to evolving new ways of working with individual pupils to provide additional and greater challenges. Some Year 9 pupils will be taking their GCSEs in Year 10, providing a fast-track to higher-level qualifications before they leave Ribblesdale. Those who find achieving to a higher level more challenging are supported by specialist teachers and assistants, as well as exciting “virtual” technology.
