At Ribblesdale, all MFL lessons are taught by specialist teachers.

The languages offered are French and Spanish. Year 7 pupils learn Spanish and French.  Year 9 pupils select one language and continue to develop their skills in greater depth.

When pupils arrive in Year 7 they are taught in sets which are the same as their Humanities sets and these sets are reviewed throughout Year 7.  Classes in Year 8 and 9 are mixed ability.

Lessons are delivered through the means of a range of commercial and in-house produced resources with the aim of ensuring progression and engagement as pupils move throughout the school.

At Key Stage 4, both languages may be studied up to GCSE level.

Many interactive resources are available to pupils on the MFL section of Moodle and these tasks are used to reinforce or extend learning outside of lessons.

The faculty makes full use of Active Teach software for each of the main commercial courses in use, but supplements these resources with 'bespoke' ones created using Taskmagic 3, Activiscope and Talking Dice software.
