Congratulations to Ribblesdale’s Boys’ and Girls’ Ski Teams who took part in the North West Ski Federation Schools’ Race 2017, which was held at Pendle Ski Club last weekend. As always, the pupils were a credit to themselves and the school, and performed exceptionally well. Their behaviour and attitude were both praised by the officials, and a special mention must go to Joel Whitfield who was particularly helpful in the fun race, looking after the younger pupils from the primary schools who were in his team.
There were some outstanding individual and team performances on the day.
Both teams won the Upper Senior Race in their respective categories, which is an outstanding achievement.
In the boys’ competition, Ciaran Bradwell was 3rd overall and 2nd in the Upper Senior Category; Joel Whitfield 6th in the Upper Senior Category, Daniel Wilson 7th in the Lower Senior Category and Mitchell Dickenson 9th.
In the girls’ competition, Eleanor Jessop was 5th overall and 2nd in the Upper Senior Category; Georgia Singh 4th in the Upper Senior Category and Ellie Culshaw 4th in the Lower Senior Category.
All the pupils (including Will Austin who is injured and was unable to compete at Pendle, and Rebecca Heselton who was training with the ESSKIA team and was therefore unable to take part)) have continued to make excellent progress over the course of the season and should be very proud of their achievements.
Along with myself, all the pupils would like to thank their coaches and parents, who have travelled around the country providing support at every race, and without whom they would have been unable to represent the school.
Well Done! From Mrs Sharp.
