Ribblesdale is lucky enough to have some outstanding facilities to help drive forward teaching and learning throughout the school. The facilities range from ICT and technology to Sport, Leisure and Music.
Below are just some of the facilities which the school has access to, including some examples of how they are used by both pupils and staff.
ICT and Computers
There are over 400 networked computers across the school which are housed in all the main curriculum areas. The school has two cutting edge ICT suites used by the ICT department in H block. There are also computer suites in Humanities, Science, English and of course the Learning Resources Centre. The Art/Graphics area also has a suite of computers within the classroom to allow computer based graphic design to take place alongside the more traditional methods.
Students within school also have access to a bank of 30 laptops which can be used anywhere in school, taking advantage of the campus wide wireless network. This network is also used by many users through mobile devices.
Each classroom at Ribblesdale is equipped with an interactive whiteboards which are used extensively in lessons to actively engage young people in their learning.
Learning Resource Centre
The learning Resource Centre provides Ribblesdale's students with a learning hub. It contains an extensive library of resources from books and magazines through to computers. The centre is used by classes throughout the school day to provide and alternative environment for learning. It is also used by students during, break lunch and after school, and plays host to number extra-curricular activities.
The fitness suite, located adjacent to the PE department, is available for use by all members of the Ribblesdale community. It contains a range of fitness machines including treadmills, cross trainers, excersise bikes, resistance weight machines and weights. It is open after school most days for use by staff at school and most pupils use the fitness suite whilst studying the PE curriculum.
