English is central to almost every subject in school and is crucial for communication in life. At Ribblesdale we aim to equip pupils with reading, writing and speaking skills to fulfil not only National Curriculum requirements but also those of life beyond school.
Year 7 Curriculum
Term 1: Monsters. A wide range of activities and lessons linked to this topic with some key literary pre 20th Century texts used as a stimulus
Term 2: Shakespeare. A Midsummer Night's Dream. Shakespeare's life and times.
Term 3: Mysteries.
In class reading, spelling and literacy skills will be taught too.
Year 8 Curriculum
Term 1: An Egyptian Adventure Story. Refugees and Evacuees.
Term 2: Pre 20th Century poetry study and Titanic.
Term 3: Disasters.
